Fractional Chief AI Officer · Former Chief Audit Executive
I help executives and boards move quickly with AI while meeting their regulatory requirements. I know risk, compliance and controls from the inside. I have also run operations, bought technology and built products and delivered solutions with partners.
I have reported to boards, regulators and government, and worked with business, IT, security, risk and audit leaders, vendors and systems integrators.
Experience
I started in risk consulting at PwC and Protiviti. I then became Chief Audit Executive at the IESO, Ontario’s electricity system operator, reporting to the board’s Audit Committee.
With no authority over the utilities, I led the team that brought 70 of them onto one shared service through a governance model the sector agreed. The change enabled the transition of more than 4 million customers to time-of-use billing. It came in $11M under its $89M budget. I then ran the service for 5 million customers with full operational accountability, led its $100M procurement and secured its revenue through a rate case.
At KX, I led product development. With systems integrators, we delivered solutions for utilities, energy exchanges and high-tech manufacturers, including semiconductor companies. The business grew from a standing start to 36% of KX revenues.
Most recently, as Chief AI Governance Officer at an enterprise AI platform company, I was accountable for AI and agent governance and wrote the executive brief Governing agents at work.
Executive decisions
The business case covers the people, process changes, data, technology and oversight needed to deliver the result. It sets measures to assess whether the result was achieved.
Letting AI act in your organization is a delegation of authority. It needs an accountable executive, limits set within the board’s risk appetite, and evidence that the AI stayed within them.
I work with you to assess each use against your objectives and risk appetite. Together we check whether your data, people, processes, systems, integrations, infrastructure and controls can support it.
How Envyze helps
Envyze is independent of technology vendors, so every recommendation is about what fits your organization.
Prioritize AI investments and make the case for each.
Assess whether your organization is ready for the AI you plan, from data and systems to people and processes.
Set what AI and agents may do, and who answers for it.
Put an executive in charge of the AI agenda, before a permanent appointment or alongside your team.
Formats. Advisory work as a board or executive session, a defined engagement or ongoing counsel. Fractional Chief AI Officer on set days each week.
Envyze also advises AI, data and energy-technology companies selling to regulated buyers on positioning, pricing and partner programmes, and on the questions a buyer’s risk, audit and security teams ask.
Approach
We add controls where an AI use calls for them, within your risk appetite.
My advice draws on practical experience with AI agents and automations under controls I have defined.
Envyze provides advisory services and does not issue audit opinions, certifications or conformity assessments. Conclusions on compliance and control rest with your own risk, compliance and audit professionals.
